Changes for 2009-10:
Only change is the addition of the Indy Lights to the class.

General:

Our class rules are intended to be identical to the ISRA/USA NE rules except as noted specifically.

Cars must use the body and chassis submitted to tech. All other parts may be changed. 

Body must be opaque when viewed from the top and sides except for the wheel openings. 

No air control devices allowed. Body bulletproofing that extend side dams will be considered air control. 

The spur gear must be level to or above the bottom of the chassis to prevent damage to the braid when the tires become undersized. 
Axle ball bearings are still allowed.
No 2mm axles.
Rear clearance is 1/32 (0.032) inches (0.8mm).

Exceptions: 1) JRL top suspension piece may be bent to ease body mounting. 2) Top suspension piece on FX chassis may be omitted. 3) Stamped steel chassis may add any type of piano wire bracing.

All cars must contain a painted 3 dimensional driver with helmet, shoulders, arms, and steering wheel mounted in original cockpit position. Interior must cover the entire cockpit opening. No part of chassis may be seen through the driver area when viewed from above.

Front wheels: Minimum wheel diameter of .600" and minimum width of .300”. Must be black rubber/plastic. Front wheel retainers may be soldered to axle. 

Front axle may be soldered to the chassis through the chassis axle openings. 

Axles: 3/32” minimum front axle diameter on spring steel chassis. Minimum rear axle diameter for all chassis 3/32". Axle ball bearings allowed, but optional.
Classes will be run together and scored seperately.

Chassis: 

Unlimited. 


Bodies: 

Must use BETTA, JK, BSP, and CAT LMP bodies. 

The body must cover the entire chassis, including the rear axle and guide flag. Exception: Ears at front of chassis. 

May be fixed to the chassis with only pins or cellotape. 

Body decoration is unrestricted. 

All four wheels must be completely visible when viewed from the side. Sticker fronts are legal. 

Realistic sized numbers must be displayed in at least 3 different positions. Numbers must be painted on the inside or decals. No magic marker numbers will be allowed. 

All cars must contain a painted and scaled 3D interior with drivers helmet, shoulders, arms and steering wheel mounted in the original cockpit position. No portion of the chassis may be seen through the driver area when viewed from above. 

Body cutting must maintain every detail of the real car (i.e. lights, wheel position, etc.). 
The body must retain a minimum front vertical edge of 1mm (.039"). 

The body must not deviate from its original form as produced by the manufacturer. 


Gearing:

Any pitch gear may be used and any ratio.

Dimensions: 

Ground clearance must be a minimum of 0.8mm (.032) at the start of qualifying. The clearance is measured between the rear tires and under the rear axle. 

There is no minimum clearance required at the front of the chassis.

Body must retain a minimum front vertical edge of 1MM (.039"). Body must not deviate from original form as produced by Mfg.

Minimum front wheel track is 2.80". Alternatively, sticker (decal) fronts are legal. Loss of front wheels during the course of the race will not be considered an infraction. 

Rear Wheels: Maximum width of 20.7mm (.815"). The rubber portion of the tire contacting the track surface must be black. 2mm rear axles are not legal.

Axle ball bearings are legal, but optional.


Dimensions: 
Maximum width of 83mm (3.269) excluding pins and tape. 

Ground clearance must be a min of 0.8mm (.032") at the start of the race. Clearance is measured between rear tires under the rear axle. 

The spur gear must not hang below the bottom plane of the chassis. 

There is no minimum clearance required at the front of the chassis.

The Tri-State and NE ISRA are out of sync concerning bodies in this class. Tri-State allows only the closed cockpit bodies listed in NE under B-Production, whereas NE allows the B-production bodies AND the Open-12 for 1/24 ES

Alpha: Peugeot 905 (400) has been deleted.

Betta: 99 Porsche GT-1 has been deleted.

G-Force: 333(GF001) has been deleted.

O/S: GT-1 Vette (080) has been deleted.

JK: Toyota GT (7176), Saleen GTS (7112), Sintura Judd (7191), Bentley 03 (7207) are still on the Tri-State ISRA list and not on the ISRA NE list. 

JK: Peugeot HD1 (7213) is not on the Tri-State ISRA list. It is on the ISRA NE list.

G-Force Porsche (006) and Audi (007) are not on the Tri-State ISRA list. They are on the ISRA NE list.

Chassis:

Must be a commercially-available approved chassis. Must be stamped and formed metal. The portions to which the motor is attached must be steel. 

Floating pans may be steel, aluminum, or brass. 

May update chassis to RTR specs. May use lightweight replacement pans, and center section. May interchange parts from a single manufacturer; such as Flexi and Flexi-2 parts, JK long or short center sections, and heavy or light pans on JK Chassis. 

Chassis may have a maximum of three chassis parts consisting of one solid center section and maximum of two separate pans. No additional pans or two piece center sections allowed. 

No modifications except for the following: 

· May solder or glue motor, axle oilites, and front wheel retainers.
· May add lead weight and tape to chassis.
· May file holes in motor bracket to allow better gear mesh, but must retain a portion of motor bracket.
· No oilite modifications allowed. May use offset oilites.
· May add spacers between pan and center section.
· May add a one-inch (25.4 mm)long motor brace and an upright brace.
· The original manufacturer's plating may be removed only in areas to be soldered.
· May add pin tubes. Pin tubes may be either solid or floating. May add lead wire retainer.
· May solder on steel guide tongue reinforcement such as Slick 7 but the original tongue may not be removed, modified, or moved.
· No other-modifications, soldering, cutting grinding or bracing allowed.
· May use any guide, nut, spacers, lead wire and clips.
· May perform reasonable filing of rear oilite chassis holes to allow for axle alignment. 

Bodies: 

There are too many vintage bodies to keep track of. The specific body list has been dropped. The new rule is: If it looks cool, has low downforce, and is easily available chances are it will be legal.

The body must cover the whole chassis including the rear axle and guide flag. EXCEPTION: ears at the front of chassis. 

Must be fixed to the chassis with only pins or original mfg clips. 

Body decoration is unrestricted. Windows must be clear and all 4 wheels must be completely visible from the side.

Any gear ratio allowed. May only use 72, 64, or 48 pitch gears. 


Motors: 
· Stock 16-D style set-ups only. 
· Falcon 7 motor allowed.*
· No modifications allowed except as follows: 
o Racer may add can screws. 
o May add spacers to limit end play. 
o May dye armature. 
o May re-true commutator. 
o May zap magnets. 
o    May glue magnets in place. Any adhesive may be used.
o    May change brushes and may use any three-coil springs.
o    No polishing of magnets allowed.
o    No shimming or honing of magnets.
o Balancing is allowed. 
o Armature may reconditioned; coating may be removed. 
o Minimum air gap is 0.575 inches (14.61 mm). 
o May interchange parts between manufacturer's set-ups. 
o Oilite may be soldered in place. 
o    Motor can ball bearings are legal but optional.
o    May use any USRA-approved C- or D-can endbell hardware as replacement hardware.
o    Aluminum or brass spring cups may be used as replacements.
o    May solder and/or glue endbell hardware together and to endbell.
o    Magnets must be stock one piece single (no quads) ceramic magnets as found in the production motor, and meet the following minimum dimensions:
§  Height: 0.570 inches (14.48 mm)
§  Length: 0.650 inches (16.51 mm)
§  Thickness: 0.145 inches (3.68 mm)
o    Arms must be commercially available, meet all USRA manufacturing specs, and be approved for use in this class by the USRA.
o    Arms must meet the following minimum dimensions:
§  Diameter: 0.513 inches (13.03 mm) excluding coating
§  Stack Length: 0.600 inches (15.24 mm)
o Arms must be tagged 16-D. 


Wheels and Axles: 

Front:
The car must have a single one-piece front axle that passes through both uprights. 

Front axle minimum diameter is 0.047 inch (1.19 mm). May solder front axle where it passes through chassis. Front axles may be bent.

Front wheel minimum-diameter is 0.500 inch (12.7 mm). May solder front retainers to front axle. Front tires must be made of rubber mounted on separate metal rims. Wheels must be mounted on front axles. Alternatively, sticker (decal) fronts are legal. In this case, the front axle is no longer required. 

Rear:
Rear Tires must be black rubber. There is no minimum diameter restriction. 

May use 3/32 inch rear axle. May use drill blank axles front and rear. Axles must be steel. No hollow or other lightweight axles allowed. 2mm axles are not allowed.


Dimensions: 

Maximum width of 83mm (3.269) excluding pins and tape. 

Ground clearance must be a min of 0.8mm (.032") at the start of the race. Clearance is measured between rear tires under the rear axle. The spur gear must not hang below the bottom plane of the chassis. 

There is no minimum clearance required at the front of the chassis.
